Summer Romance Rendezvous

by Jennifer Good

Summer RomanceWhat is it about summer that evokes such feelings of romance? Maybe it's the longer days, beach walks or warmer weather. Remind your partner, and yourself, of the magic of summer with a romantic summer interlude! For your invitation you'll need:

  • A 5" by 5" piece of a palm tree branch
  • One sheet of paper
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Colored marker or pen
Set the mood for your romantic summer rendezvous with a creative invitation! Cut your sheet of paper to fit on the palm tree piece. Cut it small enough to leave a 1" margin on the palm tree piece. On your invitation write a note inviting your partner to your romantic summer rendezvous. Be sure to evoke the mood you want to set (sexy, casual, adventurous) with your writing style, and don't forget the important details such as; time, place, what to wear, etc. What you'll need for your encounter:
  • Blanket or beach towels
  • Large umbrella
  • Palm trees
  • Beach ball
  • Old bottles filled with sand
  • Sea shells
  • Camera
  • Portable stereo
  • Sunscreen, suntanning oil or sunless tanning lotion
  • BBQ or indoor grill
  • Skewer size meats, fruits and vegetables.
  • Skewers
  • Picnic basket filled with your favorite foods
  • Small cooler (or bucket/bowl filled with ice)
  • Games (Cards, romantic board game, Frisbee, etc.)
  • Romantic summer movie (such as, Grease or Dirty Dancing)
  • Your partner
You can do this encounter indoors or out. Start by choosing the space you want to decorate. If this is an indoor encounter try to clear as much furniture out of the room as conveniently possible. Lay out your blanket or beach towels first. If you're using an umbrella place that next, followed by your palm trees. Then beginning putting the rest of the decorations in place. Soon you'll have a romantic beach setting for two!

Summer RomanceWhen you are ready to prepare your food keep these tips in mind...
  • Open your picnic basket and fill it with fresh fruits such as grapes, strawberries and cherries.
    Keep it easily within reach.

  • After you're done cooking your kabobs, hand-feed each other.
Once you feel you've taken in all the sun you want scamper off to take a shower together. Finish your romantic enounter snuggling together while watching a romantic summer movie!
