Dear Jerry,

If only we had met at another time in our lives ... when you were more ready to settle down and be happy. I do understand that there was a lot going on in your life then, as there is now, but I can't understand sometimes why you didn't let me love you the only way I could... with all my heart and soul. I tried.

The times we had together were great. I know that at one time, you really did love me. I think in some ways, you still do. When you had to go, and for the reasons only we need to know about, you broke my heart completely. You took a piece of it with you that you'll always have to be responsible for. Take care of that for me.

I didn't think I would ever be able to look at you again or see you again nor did I ever even want too, but after seeing you, I am over the hurt and do want us to be friends. Even though we can never be together as one again. I always want what is best for you and I do want us to continue to keep in touch.

The piece of my heart you still have... take care of it as a friend would. A friend who once loved me. I forgive you for the hurt and the pain you caused my heart and I want to pick up now from here and start over as friends. I hope you want the same! I'll always have a special love for you!
